ECOLITERACY

Ecological Literacy is an understanding of the interaction and interdependence of living beings and its ecosystem. It serves as an essential tool of education that can help children develop a connection to their natural environment and walk towards a sustainable society. It’s that essential element of a child’s education that enriches his behavior, values and character.

HOW SCUBA DIVING COMES INTO THE PICTURE

The concept of sustainable development may be too complex for young children to comprehend. If properly presented, though, can help them realize the consequences of their actions and their influence on the environment. Scuba, that is, Self-Sustained Breathing Apparatus is a recreational and an exploratory sport. It’s a perfect opportunity for children to explore the magnificent marine life and bond with the nature in a special and a unique way. Allowing children to dive into the ocean planet where they would be exposed to exotic life forms, swimming across in a cool proximity will spark a greater connection and respect for the marine environment and inculcate in them a positive behavior and a greater understanding of the world. In regards to this, we propose two program outlines.

Our Goal

We Aim To Make Our Children The Heroes, Nature Needs

In regards to this, we propose two program outlines

BENEFITS

 Team Building Skills

Scuba diving being a buddy sport requires coordination and smooth flow of
communication among the team members, involving each child to look after each
other during the course of the activity, hence developing a high sense of unity and
team spirit. Here, children will get to enhance their non-verbal communication skills
by learning hand gesturing and communicating through other signs and symbols.

 Planning Proficiency

Planning is a necessary first step before undertaking any activity. Children will be
taught every skill and handling their body and equipment beforehand. They will be
asked to check their own physical conditions before the activity. Thus, letting them
realize the value of planning.

Physical Benefits

While underwater children will be taught to breathe in and out slower and deeper in turn
calming the mind and the body. At the same time, the muscles tend to work harder in
water resulting in muscle strengthening and toning. The process also benefits in
increasing one’s muscle flexibility.

Creative and Artistic Development

Being in an unusual surrounding that is in the water the child naturally becomes
attentive about himself/herself and the surrounding there in. The child here gets an
opportunity to get acquainted with their own capabilities and natural skills. Many
children explore their unexplored aspect of themselves and feel transformed.

  Risk Taking       Capabilities

Engagement in our various Aqua Missions will allow children to accept challenges and with this they would learn to take calculated risk, a factor that helps in child’sholistic development.

Spiritual

Learning to dive is fun and a spiritual experience as well. Dipping down in the water
one experiences a strange calming silence. Child’s total focus is on his/her own
breathing and the blue water surrounding him/her. This circumstance may also be
explained as entering a state of meditation and contemplation.
